I'm creating a solar system with photoshop to see what my old 5.0LE can do on a PC.
I had an idea for a binary system that might be able to have an Earth like planet. from what I understand current theories suggest that binary systems can not have life baring Earth like planets, because of the unstable gravitational forces and unstable orbits, prevent stable seasonal cycles
but since it worked for George Lucas, I figured I can do it.
the Gravitational center of my solar system is a white Dwarf.
the inner system consists of 3 planets that were not consumed when the star went nova therefor those planets are further out than most inner planets, probably former gas giants that either had there atmospheres blown away or condensed into a solid mass.
these planets are smaller than their original gas giant size but are larger and denser than the other typical solid planets and about less than a third of the size of the current gas giants, orbiting the second son.
the far outer system is marked by a secondary star, a Sol type sun, with its own planets, or considering it is in orbit around a denser star, its own moons.
the first 4 planets or moons orbiting the secondary star are based on our own solar system accept I took into account that such planets might have a closer orbit as an effect from the central dwarf star, and being slightly closer to the star would have different environmental conditions - so the earth like planet is the fourth one out.
with what would have been Earth a Venus like world with a denser atmosphere, that I explain as not only being close to the sun but also because the molten core froze up as it did not have a major collision in its early development to keep its core hot, like the earth did, which also produced the Earth's moon.
This is my earth like planet.
it is slightly bigger and denser than the earth. being in a binary system I guessed that the planets & suns would be slightly bigger than our own system, as something less dense would not remain intact with the additional gravitational forces pulling on them.
I hold to the theory that any life baring planet would have a moon because to sustain life the young planet would have had to collide with another planet to keep its core hot. and that would throw off an orbiting chunkthat becomes it's moon, that stabilizes the orbit and rotation creating stable seasons,
(as it was with the earth).
The outer planets of the second star are traditional gas giants I wasn't to imaginative with them either, these too are based on our own gas giants.
the theory behind these are when the primary star went nova the second star which was a super gas giant, ignited and burst into life.
The outward blast of both stars caused gasses to collide and concentrate around the former super gas giant's moons, where as the inner moons were in the direct blast of the birth of the new star and did not collect a massive atmosphere.
